We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

On 1 July this year, I shall be walking 100 miles over a period of six days; re visiting the areas I photographed in the South Wales coal mining valleys 40 years ago, during the 1980s.

My Mam was a keen supporter of my career as a photojournalist and documentary film maker. She was always interested in my work, especially in the valleys, as we had a number of relatives who had worked in the collieries.

Mam sadly passed away a few years ago, suffering with dementia. It's a cruel desease that chips away at one's memory. To witness someone slowly fading away, not knowing who you are, is heart breaking.

I will always have her memory in my heart, as I walk up and down, and across the valleys I love so much.
