DRIVING VETERANS FUTURES THROUGH GOLF
On Course Foundation (OCF) continues to provide positive provision for wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans – supporting their recovery and transition to civilian life through confidence building golf events and opportunities for employment in the golf industry.
Playing golf is the ‘hook’, as well as a confidence building sport that can be played on a level playing field regardless of injury or illness. The nationwide programme aims to restore self-confidence, reduce social isolation and provide a sense of purpose and achievement for veterans.
The make-up of our beneficiary pool is varied – physical injuries, long-term life threatening/debilitating illness and mental health issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), in response to experiences encountered whilst serving in the military. In twelve years of operation, we have seen that our programme can have a profound positive effect on the on-going rehabilitation of these deserving individuals, developing skills both on and off the course and sourcing alternative careers in the golf industry.
Here at Rocket Yard, we believe that the industry of sport is invaluable to the recovery of wounded service personnel. Make a donation and help thousands of Service personnel get back on their feet through the recovery of golf.
