Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My main event in 2025 for Sycamore Trust U.K. will be the 106km Isle of Wight Challenge in May. In preparation I will also be completing a 250km virtual hike to the North Pole through December and a 50km hike around Bath at the end of March.

The approx 66 mile hike starts on the morning of Saturday 3rd May at Chale, in the south of the island, continuing throught the night before finishing, hopefully before lunch on the 4th May. The Chale start looks over the dramatic coastline to the west, and the route follows the coast with ups & downs around past the ‘Needles’. Then it’s northwards to the halfway point in historic Cowes. We head around to Ryde, Bembridge, and another major rest stop at Culver Down, before the final stretch back into Chale.

The build up

It will take a lot of time and preparation to be ready for this event. To help with the training, as well as all the walking I will be doing on my own, I have signed up for a for a couple of other events.

Between the 1st and 31st December I will be recording all my walks/hikes/runs on Strava. Progress towards completing the 250km virtual route from Canada to the North Pole before the dawn of the new year will be logged on the Ultra Britain site ‘North Pole virtual map’

50km Bath Challenge March 2025

https://www.ultrachallenge.com/bath-50-challenge

A one day hike on Saturday 29th March. From the Racecourse basecamp the anticlockwise loop heads down to the City, past the famous Royal Crescent, and along the River Avon. The route join sections of the popular ‘Bath Circuit’ – with a lunch stop at Coombe Down, before re-joining the River Avon Trail to the east of the City. Heading north it joins Limestone Link and on into the countryside to pick up the famous Cotswold Way, and it’s around and back to the Racecourse.

I bear all registration, travel and accommodation costs for the events. All donations go directly to the charity.
