Story
Special Olympics GB provides weekly sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities. I have been involved with SOGB since 2011 and joined the board in 2016 - it is safe to say that the charity has had a majorly positive impact on my life and how I view the world around me. Spending time with our athletes and their families is, without sounding corny, is truly inspirational. Special Olympics is part of the Olympic family but is inclusive of all abilities. The charity caters for young children with profound disabilities (helping them with motor skills such as bouncing and catching a ball) through to adults who can compete in a range of Olympic-type sports (swimming, equestrian, basketball, football, athletics etc.)
I ran the London Marathon in 2012 and raised funds for SOGB.
This time round, to mark my 10th marathon, I’m running the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso, Norway and will be once again raising funds for this incredible organisation.
Any donation you can make - no matter the amount - will be hugely appreciated and go towards SOGB helping to transform the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport.
