Story
After recruiting a team of runners from within my department, the School of English, Communication & Philosophy (ENCAP), to undertake the Cardiff Half Marathon in March 2022, and as a team combined raising over £5,000, I have decided to try to replicate this once again and lead an ENCAP team to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2025.
Each of us will run and fundraise to support Cardiff University's neuroscience, mental health and cancer research efforts, supporting the next generation of researchers, to help accelerate life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with a wide range of conditions.
Cardiff's neuroscience and mental health researchers are developing new treatments for a wide range of debilitating conditions including ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's.
Cancer researchers at Cardiff University are working to improve outcomes for people living with some of the most common cancers such as breast, prostate and bowel, as well as those that are rarer or hard to treat.
Any monies you can spare and donate via this page therefore, for what I think you'll agree are very worthy causes, will be greatly appreciated!
Furthermore, on a personal level, I have also set myself the goal of completing the SuperHalfs series - six half marathons taking place across Cardiff, Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia. Running alongside a friend from Lisbon, we shall fly the flags of Wales and Portugal respectively at each race. Wish us luck!
Best,
Rob
