Cardiff Half Marathon 2025 · 5 October 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Dear Friend,
Thank you for visiting this page
After recruiting a team of runners from within my department, the School of English, Communication & Philosophy (ENCAP), to undertake the Cardiff Half Marathon in March 2022, and as a team combined raising over £5,000, I have decided to try to replicate this once again and lead an ENCAP team to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2025.
Each of us will run and fundraise to support Cardiff University's neuroscience, mental health and cancer research efforts, supporting the next generation of researchers, to help accelerate life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with a wide range of conditions.
Cardiff's neuroscience and mental health researchers are developing new treatments for a wide range of debilitating conditions including ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's.
Cancer researchers at Cardiff University are working to improve outcomes for people living with some of the most common cancers such as breast, prostate and bowel, as well as those that are rarer or hard to treat.
On a personal level, having sadly lost friends to both cancer and suicide in recent times, it felt right that I should make an effort to support and promote these worthwhile causes. Any monies you can spare and donate therefore via this page will be greatly appreciated!
On a lighter note, I have also set myself the goal of fundraising and completing the SuperHalfs series - six half marathons taking place across Europe in Cardiff, Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia. Running alongside family from Lisbon in each, we shall fly the flags of Wales and Portugal respectively.
Wish us all luck!
Rob
