Story
On Saturday 29th June, Dave, Tim & Rob will be leaving Oxford in a hired 'skiff' to row the 75 miles to Walton-on-Thames over the course of 6 days.
We are doing this to support the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of our great friend Keith Kelly who we grew up and went to school with some years ago!
Keith was diagnosed in late 2023 with a tumour and sadly passed away at the end of April this year.
Keith was the Director of Sports at Oxford Brookes University from 2009 and during his time helped drive the progression and development of the University's rowing teams and programmes. This dedication has helped propel the University teams to winning many of the categories at the esteemed Henley Regatta and develop hoards of International and Olympic athletes. We look forward seeing the current vintage of Brookes athletes rip past us as we paddle beside the HRR course as part of this challenge.
Keith was an avid sportman and competed at National level in his favoured sport of basketball, playing many games for Wales & was recently selected for the men's over 50's GB Basketball team.
Keith was a great friend and made time for everyone that ever needed him. He was an amazing father and leaves behind a wife and two teenagers along with many friends, family, colleagues and team mates.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. We hope that our adventure will inspire support to fund the investment required to help tame and beat this disease that impacts thousands of families each year.
