Story
In August 2019 our lives was turned upside down after we were given the news that our beautiful daughter Sophie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. She started a long journey of treatment.
604 doses of chemotherapy
23 General Anaesthetics
20 Blood transfusions
9 X-Rays
Thankfully Sophie finished her treatment in December 2021 and rang the end of treatment bell on 23rd December 2021. Sophie continues to go from strength to strength, she loves her swimming, dancing and football, a mad LFC fan, VVD is her favourite player.
I have chosen two charities this year to raise money for, the first is Cure Leukaemia, and the second is The Owen Mcveigh Foundation.
Cure Leukaemia are very kindly allowing me to use this page to raise funds for both charities instead of setting up two separate pages with the money being split equally between the two charities.
Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.
The Owen McVeigh Foundation are a charities based in Liverpool, who's aim is to provide sick children and their families with life memories they will always remember and treasure.
