Story
I have served 34 years in the Royal Navy, 28 years full-time and 6 years in the RNR (Air Branch).
The RNRMC means a lot to me and has supported me and my family back in 2005 when my youngest daughter ws diagnosed with leukaemia. I have over the years taken on various challenges to keep myself healthy and motivated and hopefully raise funds for the RNRMC along the way.
This is the next chapter!
After my attempt at the London Edinburgh London 1500km Audax in Aug 22, this year I decided to focus on the shorter 40 hour challenge of completing the Trafalgar Way Audax 600 km/ 372.8 miles and 6450 metres/ 21161 feet of climbing.
The route follows and commemorates the 218th anniversary of a journey (278 miles) taken by Lt John Richards Lapenotiere RN, from Falmouth to the Admiralty, London. His journey took 37 hours but not on bicycle!
My challenge will begin on 24 June on Armed Forces Day weekend which is also being held in Falmouth. This ride would be unsupported carrying my kit and sorting out any mechanicals unaided which are fundamentals of the Audax ethos. Incidentally Audax is short for audacious ride!
