Jungle Ultra Marathon. Peru 2024 , 2 June 2024
We fund life-saving research to help cancer patients everywhere.

Story

Of all the crazy, dumb-arse, stupid things i've ever done - this is by far the craziest.

5 days in a jungle in deepest, darkest Peru.

100% humidity, where everything wants to hurt you or kill you.

Sleeping in a hammock.

The kit list includes a Trauma Pack, needles and scalpel blades.

Running / climbing / crawling 220Km over 5 days.

it is going to be hot, cold, humid and very, very wet !

So please sponsor me.

I'm doing this for 2 reasons.

One --- because i can - i'm incredibly lucky to be fit and healthy. AND

Two - to hopefully raise a bit of money to support the development of new cancer treatments. In my day job i see the impact that research has on patients. In my 12 years working at the Christie and The Marsden i've seen drugs move from "first in human" to "standard of care" and that is the most amazing thing. Only possible through the research that we do.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
