Story
We are fundraising in memory of our dear friend, Robert Mark Robson, by running 5 marathons in 5 days, covering the full Coast to Coast route from Whitehaven to South Shields.
Emmaus North East is a homelessness charity with a difference – providing more than just a bed for the night to people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion.
One of 30 communities across the UK, Emmaus North East provides a home for as long as is needed, meaningful work experience in one of their social enterprises, funded training and an opportunity for the formerly homeless people they support to get back on their feet.
Situated in South Shields, their community has the capacity to support up to 22 formerly homeless people, known within Emmaus as companions. Companions work in the community’s social enterprises, which range from house clearances, stock collection, merchandising in one of their charity shops or making bespoke items out of recycled wood in the workshop.
We know that this is a cause that Robbie would have supported during his time with us, he was always on the side of the underdog and had time for everybody, regardless of their situation.
