Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm running the 2025 Manchester Marathon for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
The BHF is a cause close to my heart (no pun intended!), as my beautiful wife and two amazing twin boys have a genetic heart condition called Non-compaction Cardiomyopathy. My wife was diagnosed as an adult after passing out following a chatty 5k run with a friend. Thankfully she received prompt medical attention and is now fitted with an internal defibrillator to regulate her heart if she experiences any future issues. She has been a rock star throughout this up-and-down journey and is an inspiration to me. Our 8 year old twin boys have been diagnosed with the same condition and receive regular monitoring at GOSH. They take all of this in their stride with a smile and a chuckle!
I’m so conscious that we are very lucky and our story could be much worse without high quality medical research and treatment. I’ve been lucky to benefit from cutting edge medical research myself and have been blown away by the support and generosity of my family and friends. Now feels like a good time to do my bit and pay something back.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks so much! 🙏🏻
