Story
It’s been on my bucket list for a while. It then went on my 50 for 50 list. Now I’ve just turned 50, this had to be the year for me to do The Great North Run. An iconic, if not the iconic, half marathon.
As with my other significant running challenges, I’m using it as an opportunity to raise money for a super cause, WellChild.
Not aware of the great work WellChild does? Well here’s an overview from the guys themselves:
WellChild Childrens Nurses provide essential care and practical support to children and young people requiring long-term or complex care. They play a crucial role in enabling children to leave hospital and be cared for at home, reducing the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.
WellChild is also committed to funding high quality, innovative projects designed to have a positive impact for seriously ill children both now and in the future. This includes WellChilds Helping Hands programme which continues to go from strength to strength, working with volunteers from companies and organisations across the country to tackle essential projects in the homes of children with serious illness. Those volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm for projects such as bedroom and garden makeovers.
So, anything you can contribute to help me reach my fund raising target would be very much appreciated. And if you want, come support me on the day or join me on a training run or just give me a shout or a wave if you see me pounding the streets.
Thank you
Rob
