We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

As an active crew member of Minehead Lifeboat Station I am hanging up my drysuit for a few weeks and lacing up my walking boots. I am preparing for a new adventure in March 2025, raising money for the RNLI. I will be walking the South West Coast Path from Poole, HQ of the RNLI to Minehead.

I aim to complete the walk in 31 days, covering 630 miles, climbing over 114,931 ft (almost 4 times the height of Mount Everest), passing 2,473 waymarks, crossing 302 bridges, 921 stiles and passing 40 of the total 238 Lifeboat Stations.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution are a charity that saves lives at sea, powered primarily by donations. The RNLI was founded in 1824 and has since grown to operate from 238 lifeboat stations and 220 beach lifeguard units. Since opening its doors the organisation has saved over 146,000 lives by the volunteer crews.

RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They’re the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keep watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and the Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators working tirelessly to stop people from getting into trouble in the first place.

Saving lives at sea requires lifeboats that can battle the elements, lifeboat stations from which to launch from, and your support. Every lifeboat launch, and every life saved, is only possible thanks to the generosity of people like you.
