Fundraising for Trekstock
The charity Trekstock looks after young adults during their cancer journey by offering a variety of programmes that address mental, emotional and physical health and well-being.
As you know, I have chaired Trekstock for over four years having been involved with it since inception.
My tenure has been a difficult time particularly with the implications of Covid and the subsequent market and economic challenges.
Trekstock will be fifteen years old this July and, to celebrate this milestone, a 20 mile trek has been organised.
As you may be aware, my mobility has been severely impaired following a failed knee replacement.
For this reason, I am unable to participate in this trek but will be doing my own “mini trek” in the Surrey Hills using my mobility scooter and accompanied by my beautiful Newfoundland Daisy.
I’m not sure this lovely old lady is looking forward to it but I certainly am!
Update:
This trek will almost certainly be my last ever physical fundraising event and, after over 50 years of fundraising, I would like to thank everybody who has supported (tolerated!!) my efforts during this time - particularly on this, my final trek.
So as I hang out my walking shoes and park my scooter, please consider donating to Trekstock, the wonderful charity which supports young adults in their 20s and 30s on their cancer journey. The only charity focused on the unique challenges facing this vulnerable group.
Any amount, however small, will help us meet the growing demand for our help and support - look down the back of the sofa, dig deep into your pockets and help us to help the 38 young adults diagnosed with cancer every day.
* Charities pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
