Honouring Raz
Please join us in memorializing the life and impact of Rick “Raz” Rasmussen.
Raz was a gentle giant who was loved by all, and his impact on many of our lives is immeasurable. Raz had a way of mentoring and coaching that was impactful on both high-level athletes and those who were stepping foot on the field or putting an oar in the water for the first time. His quiet leadership, pride, integrity and kindness made unforgettable impressions on all who crossed paths with him. He always had the athlete's best interest at heart, and we are better people for being coached by him.
We are seeking donations to purchase a new shell in honour of Raz, to be christened in his name. Details of the christening will be made once we have raised sufficient funds to purchase the new boat.
All new gifts made to Raz's boat before the end of CSSRAs this upcoming weekend will generously be matched, up to a total of $10,000, by the Ventin Family.
The greatest need for Ridley’s rowing programme today is a coxed four. The boat with oars will cost approximately $40,000 and will have an impact on Ridley rowing for the foreseeable future. Raz made a profound impact on both the boys' and girls' rowing programme during his time, and this is a wonderful opportunity for his legacy to continue with the programme. Should we raise funds in excess of $40,000, we will set up a new fund to support rowing in Raz’s name.
Thank you for your consideration of supporting this initiative for Raz and helping to immortalize his connection with Ridley rowing. Please pass this along to those in your network who Raz has impacted.
Thank you for your support!
