Story
In 2023, a routine blood test revealed that my cholesterol level was alarmingly high at 6.7. This news came as a shock to me, as I had always believed I was living a healthy lifestyle. What made it even more concerning is that both of my parents passed away young from heart disease—my dad at 49 and my mum at 51. As I approach my 45th birthday this year, this weighs heavily on my mind, knowing that cholesterol levels are a key indicator of heart health.
To take control of my health and raise awareness about the importance of cholesterol management, I’m committing to walking 10,000 steps a day this February. I’ve even invested in a new pair of trainers to get started! My pedometer tells me I averaged only 6,000 steps a day in 2024 so this will be a challenge for me!
I’m also fundraising for HEART UK, a charity dedicated to raising awareness, offering support, and providing crucial advice for people affected by cholesterol-related conditions. Every donation will go directly to this life-saving work, and I am incredibly grateful for your generosity. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against heart disease. Thank you for supporting this important cause!
