Story
On the 18th March, I will be doing a sponsored skydive from 10,000 feet to raise money for Lancashire Mind. I’m absolutely terrified of heights and don’t really like planes either, so this is about as close to hell as I can imagine.
Constant cuts to mental health services and a huge increase in those suffering has caused a mental health emergency in our country. Lancashire Mind does an excellent job of filling in the holes that NHS mental health services simply cannot cover. They provide support for both young people and adults by delivering invaluable suicide prevention training to schools and workplaces, offering trained wellbeing coaches which help the most vulnerable in society keep their heads above the water, providing personal support and guidance for those struggling with mental health and much more.
As someone who has struggled with mental illness for several years now, this is a charity very close to my heart. I have struggled with depression, anxiety, self harm and suicidal ideation since the age of 11 and without support systems like Mind, I doubt I would have come as far as I have. Mind’s accessible and useful support and information on mental health was truly invaluable to me as a young teenager struggling to cope and understand what was happening to me and why I felt the way I did, and without them I wouldn’t be in the place I am today.
Just over 25% of Mind’s annual income comes from extreme challenges such as skydiving, and the impacts of the money raised are evident. Any amount of money you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated and will go towards an incredibly important cause :))
Cheers x
Donations made will be payable to Lancashire Mind minus a £160 fee for the skydive. Any money raised above £160 will be donated to Lancashire Mind (Registered Charity Number: 1081427).
