In aid of ELHT&Me
Hello, my name is Ridha
I currently work as a Sister/Charge Nurse at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, and need your help fundraising money for enhancing care for patients that are approaching end of life.
I will be carrying out a walk from Blackburn hospital to Darwen tower in order to fundraise money for this amazing cause
When I initially was promoted as a Sister i designed box for the ward I currently work on called the end of life comfort box, alongside the end of life boxes the bereavement team have made for the whole hospital. Inside it the extra one I made, it contained: 1. High quality toiletries/perfumes, 2. Notebooks- for families/patients to right anything down as people grieve differently, 3. Holy water for both Muslims and Christian’s, 4. Bags for families to place their loved ones belonging in rather than using the green hospital bags, 5. Handmade poems for families.
It became apparent that this was benefitting a lot of patients and familles and I wanted to be able to offer this to the rest of the wards in the hospital. But for obvious reason such as funds, that wasn’t feasible. I know need your help to raise enough money to be able to make these comfort boxes for every ward.
I am truly passionate about enhancing the end-of-life experience for patients and their loved ones. Our dedicated bereavement and end-of-life team has worked tirelessly to create special memento boxes for every ward. These boxes contain items that hold sentimental value and I am eager to support their efforts by raising funds to include additional meaningful items to make that difference.
End of life care is such an important factor, it’s the last memory the patient has and the last memory the families have of their loved one. Being able to make that memory, that moment stress free and comfortable is what we’re aiming to do.
The funds will go directly to the end of life/bereavement team and the spiritual team to enhance the readily available boxed. To add items in existing box such as
1. Wooden crosses
2. Rosemary beads
3. Quran cubes
4. Holy water
5. Handprint kits (which alone cost £120)
6. Notebooks
7. Toiletries for patients and families staying over
8. Bags
And many more
Our goal is to make the end-of-life moments comfortable and memorable - providing safe, personal and effective care.
I am grateful to have the support of my Trust colleagues and I will be joined by 10 others to complete this walk.
I’m sure patients and families as well the bereavement team would be grateful for all your contributions. So let’s make a difference together!!
