Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myself, Joe Turner, Jason Clegg and Tom Pepper are taking part in this years Manchester Marathon (Sunday 14th April) to raise much needed funds for a charity very close to my heart.

My son Teddy was born in January 2022, and was later diagnosed with a genetic condition, GRIN2D. This presented itself as complex epilepsy, feeding issues and developmental delay. Teddy spent a lot of time in and out of hospital during his short life, mainly due to seizures. Despite all what he had to endure, he was a happy, Fleetwood Mac loving, swimming enthusiast, who loved a bath and a bedtime story. His legacy has continued and will continue in order to help other families.

The Daisy Garland Charity is a non-profit charity raising money to support children and families who have been diagnosed with epilepsy. The Daisy Garland Charity has reached its 20 year anniversary this year, and hopes to continue its incredible work in providing oxygen monitors and funding ketogenic dietitian for children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

We are running the marathon in memory of my beautiful, courageous little boy Teddy. Throughout his journey, we were honoured to encounter the Daisy Garland Charity. Via the charity Teddy received specialist ketogenic dietitian input for his diet to help reduce his seizure activity and we were lucky enough to be granted an oxygen monitor. And following his passing in June 2023, the charity still supports us a family.

Once Teddy had the monitor it gave us peace of mind in order to leave the house, knowing we could monitor him immediately should he have a seizure or become poorly. We were also able to venture further afield on day trips and it enabled him to have sleepovers at grandparents. It also allowed us to make incredible memories on holiday in Center Parcs.

Running the Manchester Marathon and raising money and awareness for the Daisy Garland Charity will enable them to provide more families with monitors to help support children with epilepsy. There are currently 37 children on the waiting list at a cost of £450+ per monitor.

Donate whatever you can and please help support this worthy cause in memory of our Super Ted and allow others to have hope in making amazing memories, as we were fortunate to have. Anyone who wishes to come and cheer us on will be more than welcome.

If ever there is tomorrow, when we're not together. There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart.... I'll always be with you.
