Story
Back on Mother’s Day 2024, I set out on a mission. To run 100 kilometres around my local athletics track (250 straight laps) and to raise money for all those impacted by breast cancer. I've done some hard things before, but that one took the cake. With the immense support of my friends and family though, I pushed through, completing it in 7 hours and 39 minutes at a pace of 4:35/km and raising over $7,000 for BCNA in the process.
It hurt, ALOT. But here’s the thing - when I finished, I knew I had more in me. My last 10 ks were actually the fastest of the whole run, and to set the scene for you, I had 'Going The Distance' from the Rocky movies on a loop for 40 minutes and my closest friends and family cheering me on.
So this year, I think need to go even bigger to see where my limit is. I’m doubling down. Instead of 100km, I’m gonna run 200km. That's 500 straight laps, around Landy Field again, without stopping. And I’m doing it for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart.
This time, I’m raising money for the Butterfly Foundation. They support those who struggle with eating disorders and body image issues—a battle I’ve fought myself, on and off, for six years. Ever since I ran my first marathon, I’ve really struggled with my own relationship to food. The pressure to be lean for performance and the constant guilt of overeating and then purging has taken me to some pretty dark places. Thankfully, my relationship with food has improved so much since then, but I know how powerful support and awareness can be for someone who was in my position.
So on March 15th, I’ll be taking on 'My Bloody Far Run for Butterfly' and I need your help. My goal is to raise $20,000 for this incredible charity that has been a lifeline for so many. I know it’s a big ask, but I’m all in and I need you to be too.
So, join me. Whether it’s through a donation, spreading the word, running laps with me or cheering me on—together, we can make a difference.
Cheers
