Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon this October for Sobell House. This is with my brother&sister-in-law to be and Emma's aunt. Michael Evans, Emma's dad lost his 2 year battle with a rare and aggressive form of bowel cancer in October 2023. The Oxford Half falls the day before the 1 year anniversary of Michael's passing at Sobell House. He was at Sobell for the last weeks of his life and we made so many special memories during that time, with thanks to the staff for taking good care of him and the family. Sobell provided "hospital at home" to my Dad in his last days and have provided fantastic palliative care to all of our family who have needed it.
Jason my brother-in-law to be will also be running the London Marathon for Sobell House in April 2025. The link to Jason’s fundraising page is: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jason-evans-1722080148030?utm_term=V7Rn249A9
We are also running in memory of Mark Whittaker (Emma's uncle), who also passed away at Sobell House in June 2024. It was difficult going back to Sobell so soon after the loss of Michael but the staff at Sobell remembered us, welcomed us back with open arms and showed Mark the same great care they had shown Michael. Mark was one of the founders of Oxford Pride and running in the city he loved, for the hospice who took care of him in his final weeks, feels like a fitting tribute.
Fundraising for Sobell House is our way of saying thank you, giving back and keeping Michael's and Mark's memories alive. Forever in our hearts.
Thank you in advance for your kind and generous donations. We hope the money raised will enable Sobell to continue to provide a high standard of care for patients and their families at their wonderful hospice in Oxford.
