We raise funds for St George's Hospital to improve outcomes in neurosurgery

Story

In December 2021, life was good.

Having recently retired, I was planning to do some travelling with my wife, improve my golf handicap and organise a family wedding, there was much to look forward to.

On 13th December, our lives changed forever when I received the devastating news that I had a malignant brain tumour, glioblastoma, grade 4. Since that time I've had brain surgery (twice), chemo and radiotherapy.

Grateful for the outstanding treatment provided by the Neuro Oncology team at St Georges hospital Tooting, I was determined to give something back and set up project21forlife.com in association with the established John King Brain tumour Foundation.

My efforts are focused on the new Forest in the Sky Roof Garden adjacent to the Neuro ICU unit at St Georges. The garden will provide a restful space for critical care patients, and their loved ones coping with difficult and traumatic circumstances and promises benefits of reducing stress, improved clinical outcomes and aids recovery.
