This year, the 28th October marks the 360th birthday of the Royal Marines Commandos. To celebrate this special birthday, we would love it if you would join us to raise £360 in your own special way - run, walk, cycle, bake - the choice is yours!

Story

D-Day 80 Cycle, commemorating the liberation of Port-En-Bessin, Normandy, by 47 Commando Royal Marines 7 June 1944.

The tour will see 10 serving and ex serving Royal Marines cycle from The Keep Military Museum in Dorchester, which was the location of 47 Commando Royal Marines formation, to Port-En-Bessin in Normandy, the location of 47 Commando’s objective during the D-Day landings, Operation Aubery.

The team will then cycle a total of 260 miles over 5 days visiting various memorial sights and taking part in D-Day commemorations.

Locations will include:

- Sainte-Mere-Eglise

- Port-en-Bessin

- Ponite du Hoc

- Bayeux War Cemetery

- Pegasus Bridge

- Gold, Sword, Juno, Utah and Omaha Beaches

- Arromanches-Les-Bains

- British, American and German Cemeteries

- British Normandy Memorial
