Sam's to the Dam Cycle Ride 2024
Campaign by Young Lives vs Cancer (RCN 1107328 and SC039857)
A very special cycle ride from our Home from Home, Sam’s House in Bristol, to beautiful Amsterdam.

Story

Richard used to be friends with Larry, who has persuaded him to cycle from Bristol to Amsterdam in May 2024. Larry, who is FIT and cycles a lot has persuaded Richard, who is FAT and hasn't cycled properly for years, to join him on this challenge.

Equally to blame for this is Mrs Larry who is very persuasive and an amazing fundraiser and campaigner at Young Lives vs Cancer and Mrs Richard who owes Mrs Larry a favour so has deputed her husband to keep Larry company otherwise he wouldn't have done it - with me so far ?

Actually the real reason we're doing this is to raise money for the amazing charity Young Lives vs Cancer - which you can read about below.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.

So what is the challenge. We're cycling approx 275 from Bristol to Amsterdam between the 1st and the 5th May 2024. Richard's personal challenge is to get himself a bit fitter, Larry's is to take on a first challenge of this type. We'll get there eventually, but if we're carrying even the smallest donations from friends, colleagues, family and others along with us it will make each mile go quicker, each hill seem less steep and each aching buttock slightly less achy.

Thank you
