Team Cycle Ride · 30 April 2024
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.On April 30th 2024, a group of 6 mates will begin a c.300 mile cycle ride from Dunsby, Lincolnshire to Sandbanks, arriving in time for our great friend Jerry Mumford’s 50th Birthday.
Jerry was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in July 2022 which was subsequently confirmed as progressive. His MS is advancing, creating more legions, which along with the permanent symptoms of pins and needles, fatigue and muscle weakness also causes some significant episodes like temporary loss of sight!
Due to the early diagnosis of his MS and the drug protocol Jerry was going to go onto it made him eligible for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, HSCT for MS - Multiple Sclerosis Chemotherapy | MS Society, which happened in September 2022.
MS, sadly, isn't an illness that an awful lot is known about so the research that the MS Society, and others, are doing is absolutely vital to try and understand the causes and hopefully find a cure - which still doesn't exist.
Our goal is to raise £20,000 to support this research; completing the ride over 3.5 days and arriving on the beach ready to celebrate. Alas, none of us are cyclists/ Jerry occasionally loses his sight and we are planning to ride without the aid of significant support/ followed only by our friend Tom, in a stupid 2 seater car.
What could possibly go wrong? All in the name of a good cause and a bit of a laugh.
Your support is much appreciated.David, Justin, Richard, Jerry, Stuart, Duncan & Tom (who isn’t even riding).
