Richard's fundraising Skydive for Alzheimer's Society

On Saturday 25 May I’ll be launching myself out of a Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft and skydiving 14,000 feet to help raise money for Alzheimer’s Society…
Anyone who has witnessed a loved one have their life slowly taken away by Alzheimer’s will know why! In my case, after a long and undignified fight with the disease, I lost my Grandma, Lillian, on 22 November 1994, having been slowly consumed by the disease, 13 years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 68.
Until her dying day she was cared for by my Grandad, Charles, who never left her side – I can’t begin to imagine how he coped!
The Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They’re doing this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future, and I want to play my part in helping them achieve these goals.
- 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime
- 1.4 million people are expected to be living with dementia by 2040
- Dementia is the UK's biggest health and social care crisis
Any contribution, large or small, is gratefully received.
Thank you :)
Richard
