We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year, I’m fighting to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, in memory of my best friend Mitch.

Mitchell Steven Neish, or as we call him, Mitch, lost his battle with cancer on Christmas Eve 2023 at the young age of 21, after fighting with absolutely everything he had for 5 long and scary weeks. Those weeks were awful on Mitch’s family and all of his friends. Thankfully, we received much support from Teenage Cancer Trust, I don’t think his family or friends would have been able to stay strong until the end like Mitch needed without them. The charity’s that supported Mitch and us all, still check in regularly with his mum over 2 months after he passed to support her through the biggest heart break of her life.

A bit about Mitch

To anyone who’s reading this who didn’t know Mitch, I feel so sorry for you. Sorry that you never heard the best laugh (or maybe cackle is better way to describe it) , sorry that you never had some one as loving and kind in your life, sorry that you’ve never had someone make you laugh so much you’ve forgot what you were even laughing about, and sorry that you’ve never had a friend like Mitch.

Mitch loved gaming and gaming loved Mitch. Throughout his years of gaming, he amassed a community of people who loved him from all over the world; peoples lives who he touched without ever meeting them offering support and banter from his favourite place in the world, his room.

Mitch was a family man and was very close to his mum, sister, dad and the rest of his family whom he bought lots of love, laughs, light and bone crushing hugs. He is sorely missed. Mitch also loved animals, most of all his two cats Cleo and Charlie, and would often say how he dreamed of owning a dog. Mitch would sometimes be very collected with his feelings, but it was clear as day that he loved animals.

Mitch was the best friend in the world, always one message away, always patient and kind and sometimes brutally honest. He always cracked the funniest jokes and even if they weren’t funny, they still were, because his high pitched laugh could fill any room. And most of all, he wasn’t afraid to tell you what was what when you needed it. We all miss him so dearly.

Teenage Cancer Trust

Thank you for reading Mitches story. I really hope you can’t relate to this, and I hope as medicine improves no one will ever be able to relate again. That’s why the money I raise from fighting will be going to Teenage Cancer Trust. They have the power to make sure no one has to go through the loss of a son, a brother, a friend to cancer again. However, what they need is the funds to do it.

So please give what you can, reach deep in those pockets and help make sure no one and their family’s have to go through something like this.
