Story

UPDATE 20th September 2024

I have now completed 3,500 MILES and have decided to reset my target, as the challenge continues until the end of December. I now intend to cycle a further 1,000 miles over the next three months, with a renewed target of £4,500.

Any money raised from now on will go directly to the Skiddaw Forest appeal. This is such a wonderful opportunity, we can't let it fail!

Therefore please dig deep and think of the future.

Thank you to all friends and supporters, Rhiannon x

Hi, a further update! June 17th. I have now completed my 3,500 km target, yes, amazingly, in less than 6 months! So I will now go for miles. This does not mean you need to wait till I have completed this before donating, any money is welcome as soon as you can, please! If, of course, I manage to exceed the fundraising target as well as the distance, this would be great!

UPDATE! (March 8th) All going well, thank you to all supporters so far! I have passed my first 1,000 km so am on track. Please keep the momentum going and if I reach the target in 6 months, I will convert my target to miles!

I want to celebrate 50 years of involvement with nature conservation, starting at the age of 16, when I joined BTCV (British Trust of Conversation Volunteers).

I wanted to convert my frustration into something positive, so have committed to cycling 3,500km over the course of a calendar year. 3,500 is the approximate number of plant species in the U.K, which is why I chose this as my target. I hope this is memorable and deliverable!

I volunteer for Cumbria Wildlife Trust at the wildflower nursery at Gosling Sike, Houghton, Carlisle. I've been volunteering there for three years, and it's the highlight of my week.
