Story
Hello friends and family!
On June 23 I am participating in the Triathlon of Compassion, the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre's (VSAC) biggest annual fundraiser.
Honestly, I have no idea how this is going to go and I am slightly terrified! I have never been the most athletic person, but I decided I want to show myself I can do this and for a really good cause. I'm not racing to get a record time-- I simply want to cross that finish line!
1 in 3 women have experienced sexual harassment in a public place and 1 in 4 have been sexually assaulted. If my race and fundraising can help just one person get the compassionate support they need, then I have succeeded in my goal.
About the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre:
The VSACs services include their 24-hour Clinic that provides emergency support and medical care for recent survivors, crisis counselling, criminal justice system support, and violence prevention initiatives. These programs are important because when a survivor receives immediate, compassionate care it has a significant impact on their healing.
The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre provides trauma-informed sexual assault support services and prevention education free of charge to survivors and the community. They rely on fundraising to sustain their programs.
