The Big Shave

We provide brain injury rehabilitation to survivors and their families

Story

We are Burr House, one of the Boys' boarding house at Shiplake College. We have chosen to support Headway Thames Valley. To kick off our collaboration with Headway, the Senior boys asked their Housemaster, Mr G, if they could shave his beard (which had been getting longer and longer in the last few weeks...).

A couple of weeks ago, the original target of £500 was reached. House Captain Ben, Deputy House Captain Jacky and Charity Coordinators Sam and Charlie engaged in their Barber duties (Pictures of the beard shave can be seen below, in the Updates section).

The boys have now been given permission to shave Mr G's head too if the amount raised go over £1,000.

Headway Thames Valley is a charity based in Henley-on-Thames helping people to live life after brain injury in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.

There are many possible causes of brain injury, including a fall, a road accident, tumour, stroke, cardiac arrest, complications during operations and more.

A brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – the way you walk, talk, think and feel.

All the activities and support they offer aim to help people to regain lost skills, learn something new and to build confidence and independence.

We have other fundraising ideas for the next few months, but let's start, in style, with a good shave!

Thank you in advance for your donations to Headway Thames Valley!
