Story

St Andrew’s Children’s Society is an independent adoption and fostering agency working from centres in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, providing services throughout west and east central Scotland and up to the Highlands. We welcome adopters and foster carers from the broad spectrum of society, regardless of ethnic origin, religious persuasion, or sexual orientation. After a thorough preparation and successful rigorous background checks, the approval as adopters or foster carers will lead to the placement of a child. We are Scotland’s specialist agency for the placement of sibling groups, children with disabilities and those severely affected by the trauma of neglect and abuse. Our aim is the successful outcome of adoption or foster care through well-developed adoption and fostering support. Instead of traditional parenting techniques, adopted and fostered children require a style of parenting which is more sensitive to their emotional needs, many having experienced some form of loss or trauma.
