Story
Project Name: Drilling and installation of of boholes in Chinthankhwa Village (Postcode 202108)
Introduction:
Chinthankhwa village is located in TA Mwansambo, Nkhotakota district in Malawi, Africa. It is a rural area with a population of approximately 6,000 people. The village is dependent on agriculture for its livelihood, and the main crops grown are maize and legumes. The village has been facing a severe potable water crisis for years, and the existing water sources are inadequate to meet the demands of the growing population. This project seeks to drill bore holes and install solar-powered water pumps. Installing a solar pump is the most sustainable and technologically advanced way to make each bore hole succeed and ensure a supply of clean drinking water. The drilling of a bore hole is just over 50% of cost, the rest is the solar pump and tanks.
Objective:
The objective of this proposal is to seek a grant funding to drill and install ten solar powered boreholes in Chinthankhwa village. The boreholes will provide a sustainable source of clean water to the community, thereby improving their health and economic well-being.
Project Description:
Mphamvu Dzuwa Energy is one of the best and affordable borehole drilling companies in Malawi, and a single borehole is being charged at an equivalent of $4,500 all materials and installation inclusive. By this estimation, the total budget required for drilling and installing ten boreholes is $45,000.
The borehole sites have been identified in consultation with the community, and each borehole will be strategically located to serve a cluster of households. The boreholes will be drilled to a depth of between 30 and 60 meters, in order to tap into the underground aquifers and ensure a reliable source of water throughout the year.
Once the boreholes are drilled, the next stage will be installation of a hand pump, which will allow the community to access the water with easy. The pumps will be of high quality and have a long lifespan, to ensure that they serve the community for many years to come as we look for more advanced ways to water supply.
Expected Outcomes:
The project is expected to have a significant impact on the health and economic well-being of the community. The availability of clean water will reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, and also improve sanitation and hygiene standards. The project will also enhance food security, by enabling the community to irrigate their crops during dry seasons. The presence of water will attract more people to the village, thereby stimulating economic growth and creating job opportunities.
Conclusion:
The drilling and installation of boreholes in Chinthankhwa village is a critical project that will have a far-reaching impact on the community. By providing a sustainable source of water, the project will improve the health and economic well-being of the community, and also enhance food security by increasing agricultural productivity. The grant requested will be used to cover all the costs associated with drilling and installing the boreholes, and to ensure that the project is implemented successfully and efficiently.
