Story
Thank you for donating during Restart a Heart 2023
Between 9-23rd October, St John Ambulance will be taking part in Restart a Heart. An annual initiative led by Resuscitation Council UK, in partnership with St John Ambulance and other partner organisations, every October, hundreds of thousands of people across the UK and many more worldwide, come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and increase the number of people trained in lifesaving CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillator use.
In 2022, we connected with over 8000 members of the public - an incredible achievement by our volunteers. This year is the tenth Restart a Heart campaign and to commemorate this, we want to raise awareness of cardiac arrests and train an even higher number of people in lifesaving skills.
There will be loads of events across the country to raise awareness of cardiac arrests and educate people on basic lifesaving skills; and by providing the right training, resources and opportunities, people can learn how to react when someone collapses and stops breathing normally. And in the wake of the pandemic, which saw bystander CPR levels decrease and put thousands more lives at risk, these skills are needed more than ever. That's why the role you play is so important.
Your donations make a huge difference to our work:
£10 could kit out volunteers with the correct equipment to treat sick or injured people.
£20 could help train new volunteers to continue our lifesaving work.
£40 could provide more ambulance and first aid crews across the country.
