Still today, half a billion of the worlds illiterate adults are women. This trend has not changed in 20 years. We know that during conflict, girls are 2.5 times more likely to drop out of school than boys are and 48% of girls who are out-of-school today are unlikely to ever enroll in school.
Since I was 10 years old I knew I wanted to be a pilot. I spent my time in school studying for this, and upon completing high school, applied and got accepted into a scholarship program with an aviation college. This was the beginning of my pilot career.
I found the course exhausting, difficult and exhilarating all at the same time. I was lucky enough to have family support to help me get through the course.
In my late 20s I managed to get a pilot job and did that for 5 years. I loved every minute of it.
I strongly believe in the freedom education can give you in the world, and if I can assist other women with their educational opportunities or support in some way, then I will.
The funds raised here will be going to the UN Womens Second Chance Education. I will be completing the Trek for Rights 2024 with my mother.
