Story
This year on the 28th August marks 10 years without our wonderful wife, mum and gaga.
With her anniversary approaching we decided to take on a challenge and raise some funds for Friends of ANCHOR in the process. A cause that we were introduced to by our mum back in 2012. And one that has remained close to our hearts since that day.
On her birthday, 23rd July, Carly, Russell, Davie and Graeme will be walking 54k. A kilometer for every year she was here. We are keeping everything crossed for some sunshine as we pound the pavements for our lovely mum.
Friends of ANCHOR support is available daily and is free for those undergoing treatment for cancer or a blood disorder within ARI. The support stretches to families and of course the amazing staff in the ANCHOR Unit too.
I have been part of the fundraising team for the past 9 years and it has been a real privilege to see the differences that are made thanks to fundraising + donor money.
From those 'big little things' like a cup of tea and piece from the treat trolley, a comfort pack handed out that has been tailored for starting chemo, a daily newspaper and a hello 'how are you' from the wellbeing team right through to the thousands of pounds invested into research which is enabling clinical trials for our loved ones here in the North-east as well as funding equipment that encourages a faster recovery time.
100% of your donation will positively impact care in the north of Scotland. We can assure you of this as the charity’s admin costs, including the salaries of the six fundraising team members, are fully covered by our core sponsor. This means every penny of every pound is going directly to the cause.
Thanks so much for your support <3
