Rebekah's Red Sands Forts Swim 2025

Rebekah's Red Sands Fort Swim 2025 · 6 August 2025
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After swimming the Channel in a relay in 2019, and then a Loch Lomond relay in 2021, I have decided it was time to push myself, set a new challenge and do something a little bit scary and, I hope that you’ll agree, something that’s a little bit special.
Between the 6th -13th August 2025, I will be attempting to become the FIRST WOMAN and only the SECOND PERSON in history to swim the 8 miles from the iconic Red Sands WW2 Forts in the Thames Estuary, (just off the coast of Whitstable) back to the Kent coast.
I'll be following strict Channel swim rules. No wetsuit. No neoprene. No flotation devices. No touching the boat. My solo swim will be piloted from the Forts back to the coast of Whitstable.
This is a huge task. My intense training starts now. I've started 1:1 swim coaching to improve my swimming and increase my speed. I'll be training in the pool at least 3 times a week, alongside strength training inn the gym, and will start cold water acclimatisation in the sea as of March to help build and prepare me to swim in cold water for long periods of time.
I'm hoping the swim will take no more than 6 hours, and I'm aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity Aspire, who support people with spinal cord injury.
It was with Aspire that I first swam my Channel Relay in 2019, and I've helped support them ever since by leading relay teams across the English Channel. It’s a privilege to be able to attempt this challenge for a great charity
Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. Aspire provides vital resources, from accessible housing to rehabilitation support, assisting people to rebuild their lives after injury. Your generous donation will help Aspire support the 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK.
Thank you for your support, it is very much appreciated!
