We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thank you for taking a look at my page. I'm running the London Marathon in April to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK. A charity close to my heart after my lovely Mum, Audrey, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in late 2021.

I have never fundraised before or run a marathon. But it's heartbreaking to watch someone once so capable and efficient change so rapidly, so that now Mum has very little short term memory and gets muddled doing the simplest of tasks. It's really hard for those around her too, especially Dad, who is now Mum's main carer and has the constant worry of keeping her safe and taking on the lion's share of the tasks they once shared together.

Nothing will change the prognosis for Mum now, but by supporting me to help raise funds, we can try to improve the prospects for others like her in the future.

Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. The charity is challenging the way people think about dementia, uniting the big thinkers in the field and funding the innovative science that will deliver a cure.

Please if you can, donate what you can to this brilliant charity. Thank you so much!
