Story
I can’t believe I am writing this but I am only bloody running the London marathon 2025 for a charity very close to my heart - Lymphoma Action, eek!
In August 22 I found a lump on my chest, after months of tests I was diagnosed on 4th November 22 with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which is a type of blood cancer. I spent all of 2023 in and out of hospital as I went through the process of freezing my eggs, 9 cycles of 5 different types of chemotherapy and spent 22 days in hospital having a stem cell transplant using my own cells as the cancer was just so stubborn. The 5th December 2023 will forever be the best day of my life, the day I was finally free.
2023 was the toughest year of my life physically, mentally and emotionally as my journey was not as straight forward as I was told it would be.
My body and immune system still hasn’t fully recovered but to be able to run the London marathon is something I didn’t even think would ever be possible last year. I am very grateful for my health, to be able to move my body and to be able to challenge myself but I am also running this for everyone who isn’t able to.
Having cancer really has given me a new perspective on life and life really is just very precious. So even though this will be a tough challenge for me it is nothing compared to what I have been through in the last year so let’s start running! :)
I will be grateful for any support along the way!
Thank you :)
