Story
Addenbrookes and the Rosie have always been fantastic whenever we have needed them - broken bones, safe delivery of babies, snapped ligaments, heart scares... and we have always felt incredibly lucky to live so close to such a fantastic world renowned hospital.
I am running for Addenbrookes Charitable Trust who we have supported since 2020. The professionalism, care, dignity, empathy and kindness all staff showed us as a family for three months in 2020 whilst they nursed against considerable odds to get Mum back to a level of health so she could come home and spend her final weeks with us was something we will forever be grateful for.
The small gestures like a wrapped gift for every patient to wake up to on Christmas morning, toiletries chosen with thought and applied so patients can feel clean and comfortable when they are unable to care for themselves, sourcing ingredients to help patients cook a familiar dish as part of their rehab and gain some normality by completing simple tasks following a life changing diagnosis...all things staff went above and beyond to do whilst nursing a ward full of critically ill patients.
By raising money for ACT and all the work they do not only the small gestures but the big investments in technology and facilities for patients I am giving a little something back for the three months they helped us so massively.
