Story

In April 2024 I am running in the London Marathon which will be my first ever marathon for The Sick Children Trust.

The reason I am running for this charity is in 2021 my nephew at just 5 months old received open heart surgery to repair a huge hole in his heart and also received an unplanned valve repair whilst under the knife.

My family know how essential it is to be close to the hospital as Callan spent 6 days in PICU and could not stay with him and when he was moved to the ward only one parent could stay in his room. If it wasn't for charities like Sick Children Trust who provide a home from home set up then many parents would need to travel and be separated. We now have a happy healthy boy today due to the surgeons, doctors and nurses care at the Royal Sick Kids hospital who he just recently turned 3.

About the charity

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.
