Story
I traveled to Ghana for the first time in 2008, as a member of an International Needs Canada medical team. I've had the privilege of returning to Ghana's rural Volta region four times since, most recently as medical team lead. Reconnecting with friends and colleagues in Ghana each year is a huge privilege.
This outreach provides basic medical care to International Needs schools, and villages, in the Volta Region. We partner with International Needs Ghana as well as Ghana's Ministry of Health and Public Health services to ensure that crucial screening and prevention is completed for the families and children. We also treat many acute medical issues during daily clinics in different villages. The team's fundraising efforts allow us to purchase all necessary medications and equipment for these purposes - everything from a fully stocked pharmacy to point of care laboratory testing.Care is thus provided at no cost to recipients.
Our Canadian team members donate a full two weeks of their team to provide this care and fundraise to purchase all supplies. However, each one is also responsible for raising funds to cover all of their own expenses while away, including flights.
We appreciate any amount that you may be able to contribute. We cannot make this trip happen without financial support.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about the specifics of the medical outreach. I'd love to tell you more!
