Story
Hi everyone,
I am reaching out to you for your support as I take on a significant challenge to raise funds for Alzheimer's research, a cause that has become incredibly personal for me and my family. Five years ago, my mum was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at the age of 54. This was a shock that none of us could have ever anticipated, and it has since turned our world upside down.
Alzheimer's is a cruel disease that slowly takes away the person you love. For us, it has meant watching my mum, a woman who was once full of life, energy, and joy, struggle with memory loss, confusion, and the inability to perform everyday tasks. She has gone from being our rock, the one we all relied on, to needing constant care and support. Yet, despite all of this, my mum remains full of joy. Her spirit, her laughter, and her smile continue to light up our lives, reminding us every day of the vibrant person she is.
Our family has been profoundly affected by this diagnosis. We've had to adjust our lives in ways we never imagined. There are days filled with frustration, sadness, and a deep sense of helplessness. But amidst the pain, there is also a fierce determination to fight back against this disease.
My Challenge
To support Alzheimer's research and honor my mum's battle, I will be running the London Marathon 2025. This run is more than a physical challenge for me—it's a symbol of hope, resilience, and love. Every mile I run is a step towards better understanding, better treatments, and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. And just so you know, I haven't run further than 5k since school, so your donations will not only support a great cause but also hold me accountable! Your generosity might just be the push I need to drag myself out for those long training runs!
How You Can Help
Your support can make a real difference. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards funding critical research to find a cure for Alzheimer's. Your generosity will help ensure that other families don't have to endure the heartbreak that we have.
Donate Now
Please consider donating to my JustGiving page and helping me reach my fundraising goal. Your kindness will not only fund vital research but also provide comfort and hope to families like mine who are fighting this battle every day.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. It means more to me and my family than words can express.
With heartfelt thanks,
Becky
