Story
Why we are fundraising
2023 has been a devastating year for our family. We lost two amazing family members to cancer within 16 days of each other. Our uncle, Tim Chant passed away on 26th June 2023 after a short battle with cancer that had been diagnosed only 6 months earlier and our Grandfather, Mike Steer passed away after a 7 year battle with cancer on 12th July 2023. We want to raise funds that will help other people who find themselves in a similar situation to us, and as a way of thanking those who helped us and are doing this in the memory of Tim and Mike.
The Charity
Tim, Mike and our families were supported by Rowcroft Hospice and the Rowcroft Community Team for the last few weeks of their lives and the work Rowcroft and the community team provide is exceptional and priceless. Rowcroft is a charity and is funded by donation and fundraising. The services they provide helps support people diagnosed with cancer and their families at the most difficult time in their lives.
Our target
We have felt very appreciative for the support we received and wanted to show our gratitude and say thank you to Rowcroft and have decided as a family, with our friends to embark on 12 months of challenges during 2024 to fund raise a target of £50,000 for Rowcroft to help them in continuing to support people diagnosed with cancer and their families. The Wollens Bake Off is my contribution to the challenges and fund raising.
