Story
We are raising money to support CCLG, a charity which has been supporting my family through Rebecca’s son’s cancer diagnosis.
At the end of October 2023, Rebecca’s son Oliver was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a form of liver cancer. With our world turned upside down, we struggled to find information and resources that were easy to read and not fraught with worst case scenarios. That’s when we found CCLG, a charity that not only supports research into cures for childhood cancer, but provides excellent resources for families who have a child who has been diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia.
Not only that, but through this charity I have found a network of support who I can reach out to in times of need and to share experiences of living through the diagnosis as well as what treatment can be like for children and families.
By running London Landmarks Half Marathon and raising this money, I hope to show my gratitude to CCLG and help them continue to to support families and find cures for childhood cancer and leukaemia.
Each week in the UK and Ireland, more than 30 children are diagnosed with cancer and around 1 in 8 children do not survive. Every mile you run for #TeamCCLG will help to fund information and research that enables quicker diagnosis and kinder more effective treatments, shaping a future where every child diagnosed with cancer survives to live happy, healthy and independent lives.
