Story

On Sunday 13th October 2024, we are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Great Ormond Street Hospital, in memory of beautiful Síofra Nolan Lambe.

In July 2023, the most incredible group of 11 women were brought together having signed ourselves up for the classic ‘Bump and Baby’ class after choosing to embark on a journey of starting a family at a similar time.

Mid-September 2023 came and the first baby of the group was born. Over the next few weeks, the wonderful news of all the babies arriving safely continued. November 4th marked the arrival of Nathalie and Anthony’s twin girls, Annie and Síofra, and that was our group complete: 12 beautiful babies and 22 exhausted parents!

We pretty quickly realised what a great bunch of women we had landed and we will all be forever grateful for that. ❤️ Having each other during our first post-partum months was so invaluable. We’d all meet up for coffee, saying we’d meet at 10am but no one managing to get out the house until 1pm to promptly need to feed or change a bum immediately.

One thing we all felt was nothing short of amazement for Nathalie, arriving with her double buggy, having come by bus and who’d have done what we’d all done the night before twice over…Nathalie was our hero. What’s more, is the pride poured out of her over her gorgeous twin girls.

Unfortunately, Síofra, completely healthy until that moment, suddenly became very unwell. She was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she was given the best treatment available and incredible care by the amazing teams at GOSH. Tests however revealed she had caught a rare and aggressive form of strep (not covered by the vaccine). Despite showing the world her special Síofra strength for a week, the condition developed into pneumococcal sepsis, and on April 21st, at only 5 and a half months, she tragically yet peacefully passed away. Beautiful Síofra was taken from the world far too soon.

Síofra, meaning ‘fairy’ in Gaelic, will always be remembered for her kind, playful character, the glint that shone from her incredibly beautiful blue eyes and the bravery she inspired us all with. Nathalie and Anthony are devastated; however, are beyond proud of their daughter, as a family they are determined to celebrate Síofra's legacy through life.

Please help us in raising money to support GOSH, who tended to Síofra, and continue to treat other children with such dignity and care.
