We’ve set an ambitious target to raise £100,000 to help secure the future of the RDA Unicorn Centre. The Centre provides horse riding, therapy and fun to children and adults with a wide range of disabilities in the Tees Valley region and beyond.
Like so many other charities, the cost-of-living crisis has had a huge impact on finances, but we’re determined to make every effort to ensure that the Centre can continue to be a Centre of Excellence and provide much-needed services and support to our participants and volunteers.
We’ve been offering unique health, social and employment opportunities in our region for over quarter of a century. We have to save the Centre from the threat of closure, but it’s going to be a massive challenge. If we can raise £100,000 it would give us time to increase our activities, buy more horses, carry out maintenance projects, apply for more grants and arrange fundraising events to get the Centre back on a more stable footing.
As well as providing disabled riding lessons, we reach out to the community in many other ways. We offer an award-winning Supported Volunteer programme, regular sessions for people living with dementia, plus visits from our therapy pony Acer. There aren’t any other organisations offering these activities in the area and it will be devasting to all our participants and to our fantastic volunteer team if we cannot continue.
Please help the Unicorn Centre remain a Centre of Excellence by donating to our appeal.
