Story

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I have been one of those 1 in 8 men.

At 56 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I received a treatment called brachatherapy which was successful for 13 years until the cancer started to spread again.

A prostatectomy was required and this appears to have cured the cancer.

While still suffering some after affects of the prostatectomy operation I will not let this condition or its after effects stop me from having an active life style, epecially for a 74 year old. I am still playing senior Over 70s cricket for Suffolk and play badminton 3 times a week in winter, not to mention cycling, running and kayaking at various times.

I have been fortunate. Early diagnosis has helped and I am extremely grateful for where I am today. Others have not been so lucky.

I'm taking on the Jog 31 Miles in March Challenge, because I want to change this.

Together, we can create a world where no family has to suffer the impact of the disease. Please support me by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research, who fund breakthrough science to make this mission a reality.

Thank you!
