Story
The George Eliot Hospital Charity helps services, patients and staff. From raising money for new buildings and facilities to help patients, to funding innovative technology and life-changing research, and most recently helping the NHS through the Covid-19 pandemic. The legacy of charitable giving to the NHS spans decades, and has shaped the healthcare we all receive today. This year the NHS celebrates its 75th Birthday. Treating over 1.3 million people every day across the UK, it is a source of pride, gratitude and love for so many – and cares for us no matter who we are, or where we are from. NHS staff are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, looking after our family and friends. So as the NHS celebrates this milestone birthday and everything that makes the NHS great, I am celebrating alongside George Eliot Hospital by taking part in this Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. I'd be grateful if you could support me on my journey by sponsoring me!
Now for the personal bit! Whilst I love walking and never happier than when I’m in the mountains I know this will be tough challenge for me. The furthest I’ve walked previously in a day is 18 miles in Snowdonia but I was considerably younger then! I’m incredibly proud to work for the NHS and I’m sure this great cause, the camaraderie of my fellow GEH challengers, and wonderful Yorkshire scenery will push me and my dodgy right knee forward.
Family and friends generously contributed to a different charity event I took part in earlier in the year so I'm a little embarrassed to be asking for donations again but I know even small amounts would be gratefully received.
