Story
So starting tomorrow, 1st June I am starting my latest challenge to run 100 miles over the course of the month whilst looking to raise money for the Sick Childrens Trust in their Home to Home Challenge
For those that don't know my son was born last year at the end of July and after 6 weeks he ended up in hospital and what my wife and I thought would only be a few days ended up being a 3 month stay which we had some of the most difficult days of our lives.
Most hospitals only allow one parent to stay with their child and not wanting to leave the hospital a little known charity called the Sick Childrens Trust in particular Stevenson House put me up for this duration. They provided a kitchen, bathroom and bed to sleep and this gave me the freedom to leave the hospital as late as I wanted too and visit as early i wanted too and this went a long way to ensure that I could always be there for my son and my wife
The Sick Childrens Trust does not get enough recognition or exposure for the charitable work and care they give to parents and families during very traumatic times
Just a few facts about them:
- 10 Homes in the UK
- On Average 148 Families can benefit from their Home to Home free of charge, 365 Days a Year
- The average cost is £40 per night to support a family every night
Having experienced the hospitality and care from the team at Steveson House of the Sick Childrens Trust during what I can only describe as the most emotional and difficult time of my life I can only say what they offer definitely eases stresses and they are unappreciated and do not get the recognition they deserve
My intention of running 100 miles over the month of June is to raise money for a charity that will only benefit from further funding to continue their amazing work and i would be grateful for any sponsorship that people will be willing to contribute
Thank you
Randeep
