Story
Life is fragile, and losing someone you love is never easy. Recently, I lost my Nan—a woman who was the heart and soul of our family. She was a truly remarkable person, always so loving and thoughtful, taking care of everything and everyone around her, especially her two beautiful daughters ,who she often called her ‘golden girls’.
My Nan had a special love for gardening. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she nurtured life, from the tiniest flowers to the tallest trees. She found joy in the little things, and she made sure everyone around her felt loved, cared for, and appreciated.
But despite all the love and care she gave to others, she couldn’t find the comfort she deserved in her own home. Circumstances meant she struggled with the simplest of tasks—like moving up and down the stairs—and it broke my heart to see someone who had given so much to others unable to find ease in her own space.
This is why I’ve chosen to raise money for GEH Charity Elder Care. It’s my way of honoring my Nan’s memory and ensuring that no one else has to endure what she did. For someone who spent her life making others feel loved, it feels only right to make sure that others like her are cared for, supported, and able to live comfortably in their own homes.
By sharing her story, I hope to not only keep her spirit alive but also remind us all of how short and precious life is. Together, we can make a difference for our elders, giving them the dignity, comfort, and love they so truly deserve- one step at a time…
